Excellent
This is one of the best Sci Fi book I've ever read. The universe is complex and James S.A. Corey really worked on it but he also has a gift for writing.
He has a very good grasp of our society and people. Every character is different and seems real, with emotion and depth.
The technological aspects are also plausible and the fact that it only take place in our solar system make it so much closer to us than most Sci Fi stories.
I also love that everything takes times. Not just few hours but days, even months. We forget too often that exploring space means so vast distances it take a lot of time to cross.
If like me you seen the TV series first, you will not be disappointed but you should still read the books. ;-)
And last but not least Jefferson Mays is one hell of a narrator !

Génial
Roman absolument génial. excréments réaliste malgré le fait qu'il s'agit d'un Space Opera. petite longueur au milieu du roman mais une fin absolument sublime.

Boring set of cliches
I didn't make it till the end - gave up with 9 hours to go. I think the action was picking up, but I shouldn't be forced to listen to half the book before you get to good parts. Not every book needs to grip you from the start, we all know the first 80-100 pages of Lord of the Rings being completely different in tone than the rest of the book.
However here every hour was a slog - the setup is one of the most cliche-laden I have experience in more than 30 years of reading books. You have your typical conflict between Earth and Mars (why is it always Mars?), with third faction - the Belters - living on asteroids (why are they always living on asteroids)? There is no interesting power plays, no interesting characters (they are the most generic bunch - there is a reluctant XO made captain, a down-on-his-luck cop, etc.)
The narration was ok, I think it is made worse by how primitive the dialogue is in the book. Every dialogue goes like this:
Something - Holden said.
Something else - Miller said.
It repeats ad infinitum. It seems the author is incapable of putting another set of words to indicate the end of the dialogue than "X said".
Save your time, go grab something else.
